what's up with Addy's Cutter Sled...back on web!

I've been away, so maybe this has been posted already. I thought the sled was discontinued about 2-3 weeks ago, but now I find that it is still on the website...just hidden a little.

It's not shown under the accessories like it used to be, but if you look under her winter coat, it still shows up as available for purchase.

I wonder what's up?

My guess is that it's being phased out, probably because of production problems. I ordered one for a friend and had it arrive in several pieces because the glue doesn't hold very well in shipment. I was able to repair it so I'm not returning it but I did have to return the first sled I got when it came in splinters. The replacement was fine. All in all, I've seen three sleds, one completely destroyed in transit, one fine, and one with fixable damage. From what I've read here, my experience hasn't been unusual, far from it. I'd say the cost of dealing with problems like that is probably too high for AG to want to keep the sled around, at least in its current design.

Addy's books are the only ones I haven't read yet. Does the sled appear as part of some storyline?

Hmm. I wonder if they "just" changed it a bit?

I hope it doesn't flat out retire, it's disappointing to see these items that have been around forever leave for no reason.

it really irks me when accessories that are a huge part of the stories disappear!!! For example, molly's radio, and the can of worms at camp. Samantha's watercolor book, and Kirsten's honey . . . grrr

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I agree! Part of what made AG so special were the accessories taken directly from the stories. When they went, something wonderful was lost.

The sled is not mentioned in the stories and is almost definately on its way out. I have heard numerous reports of it arriving in multiple pieces [img]frown.gif[/img] I really wanted it but don't have the space or the money for it right now. [img]frown.gif[/img]

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I agree! I hope that none of the other main items from the stories are retiered. It has said in plenty of the catologes that girls can act out the stories with there dolls and the accessories and outfits. How are we suppose to act them out if they are retiring the main things in the stories. Not everyone knows when something is going to dissapear from the website and the store so they can rush out and buy it so they don't have to worry about not getting it.
